Pipestone Golf Club started out as a hobby farmer's field and an idea for a family business.  Starting in 1987, The Hanson Family (Wilf, Mavis, Tammie and Royce) built the course themselves. With the help of friends and a few employees, they reached their opening goal in August of the next year. The family opened their 9 hole course, then named Pipestone Putters, to the public on August 7, 1988.  The club was named after the nearby Pipestone Creek and the word "putters" was added to give a fun spin on the game and to welcome beginner and family golfers.   The name was recently changed  to simply Pipestone Golf Club to better represent what the course has developed into.  There has always been a dinosaur on the club logo to represent the big dinosaur find at the local Pipestone Creek.  The original dinosaur logo resembled the fun-loving dino from The Flintstones to help invite new and family golfers to the course.  The logo changed along with the name and now is based on the pachyrhinosaurus fossils found nearby.  (Note:  This dinosaur find has sparked enough interest to build a dinosaur museum near Pipestone Creek Park.  We will keep you updated on the progress)

The course has seen a lot of growth over the years. In 1992 the family added another 9 holes to meet the growing demand for the game.  Since then the course gets busier every year. Other new additions have included 2 family weddings and the addition of 5 new family members.  In 1992 Tammie married Kevin Calvert and they now have 2 children, Autumn and Ranen.  In the year 2000 Royce married Dawn Elms and they now have one son, Carter.  The course is currently owned and managed by  Wilf, Mavis, Tammie and Royce; however, all family members stay involved.

The family and staff of Pipestone Golf Club have always strived to promote a friendly atmosphere where golfers from all walks of life and of all ablilities can enjoy their game and their day.  Our long time members as well as newcomers have also helped shape the direction of the course and have become like an extended family to us.

From our Family to Yours--Thanks to all who have supported us over the last 22 years!
